After passage of a particularly tight state budget, reactions are beginning to be heard in Harrisburg about how the Rendell administration plans to spend the $600 million borrowed to fund economic development projects. Among those expenditures are $20 million earmarked to fund new institutions named after two of Governor Rendell’s closest political allies. Rep. Doug Reichley (R-Berks & Lehigh) a member of the House Appropriations Committee, said in today’s economy, funds designated for economic development should not be used for pet projects aimed at building a political legacy.
