			<title><![CDATA[Rep. Reichley Says Gov Earmarks Economic Development Funds for Political Legacy Projects ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://Media2.pahousegop.com/Audio/885315692.mp3" target="_blank">Download</a> Story :65 | <a href="http://Media2.pahousegop.com/Audio/132573951.mp3"  target="_blank">Download</a> Bite :32<br /><br />After passage of a particularly tight state budget, reactions are beginning to be heard in Harrisburg about how the Rendell administration plans to spend the $600 million borrowed to fund economic development projects.  Among those expenditures are $20 million earmarked to fund new institutions named after two of Governor Rendell’s closest political allies.
Rep. Doug Reichley (R-Berks & Lehigh) a member of the House Appropriations Committee, said in today’s economy, funds designated for economic development should not be used for pet projects aimed at building a political legacy.

			<title><![CDATA[Rep. Reichley Comments on Doubtful Revenue Sources Behind Budget]]></title>

Rep. Doug Reichley (R-Berks & Lehigh) said he was not surprised lawmakers had to work through the weekend to complete the necessary legislation, but voiced doubts about the availability of the revenues used to balance this year’s budget plan.

Rep. Doug Reichley (R-Berks & Lehigh) said he felt the new budget plan was an improvement over the governor’s original proposal, but that state spending was still too high.

Rep. Doug Reichley (R-Berks & Lehigh) said he feels state spending needs to be cut before tax increases are considered to balance this year’s budget.

			<title><![CDATA[Rep. Reichley Comments on House Passage of State Budget Legislation]]></title>

However, House Republicans are speaking out about the shortcomings of the Governor’s budget, which would add more than $1 billion in spending, during a protracted fiscal crisis, to last year’s spending plan.  

Rep. Doug Reichley (R-Berks, Lehigh) said he did not support this budget due to discrepancies about revenue sources.
