The Fiscal Year 2018-19 General Appropriation bill (House Bill 2121) is on its way to the state Senate for consideration after the House of Representatives passed it Thursday by a vote of 188-10. The $32.7 billion spending plan increases growth by 1.7 percent, which is below the rate of inflation (2.13 percent), requires no additional taxes or revenues and officially erases a deficit.

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver, Butler & Lawrence) wants Pennsylvanians who owe back taxes to the state to know they will soon have an option to participate in a new tax amnesty program. The program, which offers incentives to Pennsylvanians to settle their delinquent tax accounts, does not “forgive” taxes owed but instead waives penalties, collection and lien fees, and half of the interest owed. All taxes owed to the Commonwealth administered by the Department of Revenue are eligible for the program. The delinquent taxes must have been owed as of December 31, 2015. The amnesty period runs from April 21 to June 19, 2017. Additional information is available by calling Rep. Bernstine’s district office at (724) 752-2120, visiting Facebook.com/RepBernstine, or RepBernstine.com. A prerecorded :30 public service announcement for radio use is now available on this topic.
Rep. Bernstine Comments on House Passage of Budget Legislation

House Republican lawmakers adopted a new state budget plan Tuesday in Harrisburg that would provide greater government efficiency, reduce overall state spending and avoid broad based tax increases. The $31.52 billion House budget is $246 million less than the current state spending plan and more than $800 million less than the budget proposal put forth earlier this year by the Governor. The House budget also increases basic education funding by $100 million and provides additional funding for both early childhood education and special education programs. Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R- Beaver, Butler & Lawrence) said the fiscally conservative plan looks after the interests of Pennsylvania taxpayers.

 Click To Watch
